Travel Media Awards 2019 winners announced

22 October 2019, London: The Travel Media Awards is pleased to announce this year’s winners, following a ceremony held at The Landmark London on 21 October, attended by representatives of the UK’s top travel media. At the event, 20 publications, broadcasters, journalists and photographers were each honoured with a prestigious award.

Anthony Leyens, co-founder of the awards, said: “The Travel Media Awards has been a huge success, with a remarkably high standard of entries. Our judges had some difficult decisions to make and we’d like to congratulate all the winners and entrants. With more than 300 guests attending, and a staggering 907 entries across 20 award categories, the awards continue to grow. Every year, the event attracts the cream of the UK’s travel media.â€

The Travel Media Awards 2019 is also thrilled to present the Special Contribution Award to one of the industry’s leading figures, Hilary Bradt, founder of Bradt Travel Guides. Bradt’s love of travel took her from a career as an occupational therapist to an award-winning publisher and writer of guidebooks, with many opening up off-the-beaten-track destinations.

Giles Harper, co-founder of the Travel Media Awards, said: “Entry levels to the awards continue to grow year-on-year with the Consumer Travel Writer of the Year category receiving more than 200 entries alone. I’d like to thank our headline partner, Malta Tourism Authority, for its continued support, the hundreds of entrants to the awards, our panel of around 60 travel industry and media judges, our sponsors and everyone who attended; the awards are a celebration of the British travel media sector at its very best and it’s terrific to see it in such rude health. We look forward to seeing you all again in 2020.â€

Notes for Editors
The Travel Media Awards launched in 2015, celebrating the very best of the travel media sector. The Awards were created in recognition of the hugely influential role that today’s travel media plays in the holiday and business travel decision-making process. Open to all travel writers, broadcasters and photographers, the Awards are a true barometer of the travel media sector. The Travel Media Awards are owned and operated under a joint venture agreement between Travega and 91ÂþÎÝ. Please note, for the purposes of fairness and transparency, no travel titles by 91ÂþÎÝ were entered into the Awards. However, individual writers were permitted to submit their own work. A team of eight independent shortlisters narrowed down a final list of five finalists in each category and a panel of 59 travel industry and media experts decided the winners.

91ÂþÎÝ works across the travel and lifestyle sectors in a number of media, from print through to events. 91ÂþÎÝ produces the award-winning National Geographic Traveller (UK) magazine, as well as National Geographic Traveller Food, Travel Trends and a series of lifestyle newspaper supplements, apps and websites. aplmedia.co.uk
